POSITION DETAILS:

Job Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

Located in South Florida, Generator Service Inc. (GSI) is a full service dealer for commercial, residential, and industrial generator sets and equipment. We are seeking an experienced generator technician with ability to diagnose and repair various brands of generators, perform preventive maintenance, and interact professionally with our client base. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Generator technicians applying for this position should be able to work independently, while performing maintenance or repairs either in shop or customer's location. 

• Field service includes diesel and gas powered generators. These are both residential and commercial versions. Shop service includes RV generators, portables, and mobile generators.

• Must have the ability to operate in a constant state of alertness and SAFE manner.

• Must be able to travel in company service vehicle throughout the local counties.

• Must be able to respond to emergency service calls as needed.

• Professional communication skills - this helps us provide the Excellent Customer Service

                  we STRIVE for. 

• Ability to perform duties in non-climate controlled environments, such as outdoor weather conditions and non-weather related wet, humid and/or extreme heat conditions.

• Position requires extended periods of standing, extended periods of sitting while driving, as well as bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and the use of hands.

• Ability to lift and/or move heavy objects up to 100 lbs. throughout the work day.

Education, Skills, & Knowledge:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum 1 year experience in the repair and maintenance of generator systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Graduation from a Technical school is desired to include generators, diesel, power gen, electric power, relay, or substation technology, etc.

• Knowledge of emergency power systems with at least one or more years of generator experience; working knowledge of automatic transfer switches is helpful.

• Small engine experience will be valuable.

• Ability to diagnose and repair various engines and controls with associated equipment.

• Must have the ability to perform high quality work in a timely and efficient manner.

• Good communication skills, enthusiastic attitude, and great customer service skills are a must!

• Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Participates in meetings.

• Have legible handwriting and good computer skills to complete repair orders.

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer applications.

• Organizational skills necessary.

• Valid drivers license and clean driving record.

• Pass pre-employment drug screening. 

• Applicants should have their own basic tools/meters.

• Specialized tools will be provided.
